The prebuilt components of the framework are reusable, customizable and configurable according requirements of public sector institutions. GDFsi represents a set of tools, libraries, scripts and workflows enabling the implementation of multilayer applications based on Java, utilizing HTML, HTML5, CSS and JavaScript on the presentation layer and the JavaScript Dojo Framework for cross-browser UI supporting multiple web browsers. Client-Server communication is based on SOAP/XML web services. Business logic (middleware) is based on the Spring Java Framework, using PL/SQL procedures for the database layer based on the Oracle database server. The GDFsi architecture respects open standards and provides flexibility in terms of integration to external systems utilizing an ESB integration platform and Web services. The framework also supports integration with web applications and the online portals of customers through JavaScript GUI components (Widgets).
